Our story
In 2021, two couples, Viktor and Jenný from Iceland and Inma and Álvaro from Spain, met for the first time. We met that summer in Flateyri, working together in a Spanish restaurant and became really good friends after an adventurous hiking trip across Hornstrandir. Very soon we found out that we shared passions like adventures, nature and of course FOOD. It was during that trip when we realised that we could fulfil our dream together, opening our own restaurant.

Our TEAM
This dynamic duo and husband and wife Álvaro Andrés Fernández and Inmaculada Verdú Sánchez are two out of the four owners of El Faro and El Faro ́s excellent Spanish head chefs. They both studied the culinary arts in Basque Country and share a passion for making people happy with their very tasty and unique food.

The other half of the El Faro owners team is the lively couple Viktor Gíslason and Jenný María Unnarsdóttir. Being from the area they always wished for a fun restaurant like this in their beloved home town of Garður where their family owns and runs the hotel Lighthouse Inn. As the rest of our team, they love to make the customers feel welcome and you can expect to see their smiley faces greeting the customers in the dining room or at the bar.

We sincerely want to make El Faro a place where people can come and enjoy our unique location with amazing food, service and company.
We hope that our guests will always go home with a good feeling and smile on their faces knowing that they will always be welcome back to have good times at El Faro!
